Learning from your Mentor
Every two weeks, your Mentor will be given a new topic to discuss with you. You and your Mentor should communicate through whatever method you both agree upon. This could be email, online video, phone, skype or online chat. Your goal should be to learn how someone like your Mentor was able to discover their career path and be successful. Topics for your communications will be related to agSTEM careers and professional skill development. For example, What are characteristics of effective teams and how do I be a good member of a team? The idea is that these communications will allow you to gain advice and knowledge, and learn about each other’s experiences.
After you have completed communications with your Mentor on the topic assigned for the two-week interval, you should submit your thoughts and reflections on these interactions. The purpose of these entries is to reflect and record what you have learned and experienced during your two weeks of interactions.
